A Good Way To Alienate The Other 40 Percent. (Or, Pissing Off EVERYONE.)

From the Associated Press.

President Bush said Tuesday that the deal allowing an Arab company to take over six major U.S. seaports should go forward and that he would veto any congressional effort to stop it.

"After careful review by our government, I believe the transaction ought to go forward," Bush told reporters who had traveled with him on Air Force One to Washington. "I want those who are questioning it to step up and explain why all of a sudden a Middle Eastern company is held to a different standard than a Great British company. I am trying to conduct foreign policy now by saying to the people of the world, `We'll treat you fairly.'"

What an ass. We knew W was a stupid, stubborn man....but now, despite public skepticism, and over the outcry from not only Democrats, but the LEADERS OF HIS OWN PARTY--including Republican Rep. Pete King, chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, he threatens a veto of an ill-advised plan to let the people that regularly foster terrorism to TAKE CONTROL OF DAY TO DAY OPERATIONS of our six primary ports....including the Port of New York and New Jersey. You may remember that particular Port Authority....they developed a former New York landmark known as the World Trade Center.

Seems the only people that want this idea to work are the terrorists...and the asshat in the Oval Office that's too stupid and stubborn to admit an error in judgement. Impeachment, anyone? Or even better.....maybe this is the ammunition that the Democrats will need to blow some of the right wingers out of positions of power.......

****UPDATE:*****
From The Associated Press.
WASHINGTON - President Bush was unaware of the pending sale of shipping operations at six major U.S. seaports to a state-owned business in the United Arab Emirates until the deal already had been approved by his administration, the White House said Wednesday.
Defending the deal anew, the administration also said that it should have briefed Congress sooner about the transaction, which has triggered a major political backlash among both Republicans and Democrats.
Bush on Tuesday brushed aside objections by leaders in the Senate and House that the $6.8 billion sale could raise risks of terrorism at American ports. In a forceful defense of his administration's earlier approval of the deal, he pledged to veto any bill Congress might approve to block the agreement.
Bush faces a rebellion from leaders of his own party, as well as from Democrats, about the deal that would put Dubai Ports in charge of major shipping operations in New York, New Jersey, Baltimore, New Orleans, Miami and Philadelphia.
While Bush has adamantly defended the deal, the White House acknowledged that he did not know about it until recently.
"He became aware of it over the last several days," McClellan said. Asked if Bush did not know about it until it was a done deal, McClellan said, "That's correct."

So now, on top of being obstinate, he was uninformed. Great........

Sounds all fishy to me. Since when do conservatives worry about being racist?
I wonder what Pat Buchanon has to say about this?
