THe History, By John Bonsid. (sic.)

From WANE.com--verbatim. The typos, editorial errors, and sentence fragments are solely theirs. Coverage you can count on, indeed.

Behind Business: THe History of Cable TV in Fort Wayne
Comcast cable celebrated 20 years of providing service in Fort Wayne today, but the city's cable television history actually extends back to the mid 70's.
That's when a local visionary brought many first to the area.
A little known fact is that Fort Wayne is partly responsible for the success of ESPN.
"ESPN got its start here; yeah few people know that," says former Citizen Cable Communication owner John Bonsid.
In 1978 ESPN only aired ice hockey games out of Boston. Bonsid called them and asked if they wanted to broadcast their station on his new Fort Wayne cable franchise.
"That's when their growth started."
Bonsid says other stations growth started in Fort Wayne as well including Black Entertainment Television.
In 1986 for more than a million dollars, Bonsid says at the time it was the highest price paid per customer for a cable station.

Okay, WANE.com.....If you need help with online editing and reporting, feel free to call. I'll gladly edit and consult for a reasonable fee. And the next time you run a story about the history of cable tv in the Fort Wayne area, you might note that John BONSIB (no d, but with a b at both ends) ran Citizen(S) Cable. If you can't get the names right, what other facts might be suspect?

Don't get me wrong...I love WANE's news department. I even understand that both WANE and INC sometimes use TV copy on their websites, and as a result, web stories sometimes read like a spoken report, with peculiatities developed from writing for speech rather than print. But come on. 'Brought many first to the area?' 'In 1986 for more than a million dollars?' This isn't sentence fragments mirroring speech....it's just bad writing/editing. And to mess up both the name of the principal AND the company?

Really....I'm looking for a part time job. I'll be your web editor...
