An Untimely Update. (Or, It's Like My Life--Poorly Timed. Deal With It. I Have To.)
Hmmmmm....where to begin?
Thursday brought to light the (potentially) final meeting of the No-Love Thursday Mutual Aid and Drinking Society in it's original incarnation, since founding member and Chairman Emeritus John Q. Public will, at the close of next week, be redeployed to the Phoenix area. Mrs JQP (aka the Lovely Flower) has been chosen to lead the promotional efforts of one of the leading Phoenix radio stations (and allegedly help train Arizona National Guardsmen in hand-to-hand combat; Mrs. JQP is nothing if not multi-talented.) Present were Pastor Bob; M. Chamberlin, Bon Vivant and Man About Town; the Bitter Red Headed Lady, Baba Ghannouj Girl, Rabbi Phil, JQP, Mrs. JQP, Tattoo John (recently back from his tour of several island locales) and this reporter. The usual witty banter and rapier wit was put on display for all to enjoy, while foul language was kept to a minimum, due to the consumption of food by civilians nearby. Oh, and I found out I can buy Chuck Taylor Cons at a discount at Zappo.com.
There may be a final, farewell edition of NLT yet at the venerable mahogany bar; or possibly at another venue--maybe the Macedonian Roadhouse for a final pickled produce fest, or even the rugby bar, which has seen so many excesses, that one more would just add to the legend. More details as they become available.
We at Secondgrade wish the Publics a safe journey, and much success in their new environs; so much success, in fact, that they are able to find a need for a man of MY talents and passions, and call on me to join them in the dry heat of Arizona. I always said I'd be an old man with gray hair and a ponytail, living in Tempe.....now's as good a time as any to embark on that chapter of my life.
For the three of you that were familiar with my latest quest for female companionship...That's gone ass up. And when I say 'ass up', I don't mean in a good way. Oh well. C'est la vie.
It continues to be busy around work....lots of stuff going on, and lots of community involvement. Getting prepared to provide sound, music and emcee the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society walk this Sunday at Lutheran Hospital. I've also been asked to be a part of a Toys For Tots benefit at the rugby bar on Friday, December 1st. More on that as we get nearer to the event.
Otherwise, just maintaining an even keel....trying to keep the sails headed into the wind, as I continue the journey. At least I think that's what's going on. Hell, the last time I was on a sailboat had to be thirty years ago. What the hell do I know? I might have my metaphors all screwed up.
Hoping you and yours are fine, Gentle Reader.........

Ah that just beats the band!
I may have to miss class for the NLT of this week, for the Publics and all.
Not sure what this Thursday holds yet....but will keep everyone posted.
The good news? At least one, maybe more, chapters opening soon in Phoenix.....
