One thing to be said for Orwell's thoughtcrimes, though...unlike with the President's doublespeak, no soldiers died as a result. (Even Winston was spared, as you'll recall. Don't recall? Read the book...or be banished to Room 101. Don't know where that is? Read the book, dammit, read the book.)
